Welcome to Beijing and Biocuration 2015!

More than 270 participants gathered in Beijing for the 8th International Biocuration Conference on 23-26 April 2015.

Hosted by Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences as well as several partner institutions, this conference provided a forum for curators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research.

The 9th International Biocuration Conference will be organized by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and held on 10-14 April 2016 at Geneva, Switzerland.

GPB Best Poster Awards

Six poster presentations were awarded with the GPB Best Poster Awards, which were made by a generous contribution from GPB (Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics), an open-access journal indexed by PubMed/Medline.

1st Prize: Esther Chan, Towards reproducible computational analyses: the ENCODE approach
2nd Prize: Frederic Bastian, The Bgee database: large-scale multi-species expression data
Han Cheng, dbPPT: a comprehensive database of protein phosphorylation in plants
3rd Prize: Elvira Mitraka, 2015 Disease Ontology update: DO's expanded curation activities to connect disease-related data
Liu Wei, lncRNASNP: a database of SNPs in lncRNAs and their potential functions in human and mouse
Hongmei Zhang, AnimalTFDB: a comprehensive animal transcription factor database
